SUMMARY:Workplace Investigations Week - August 11-15\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:This week of FELTG training focuses on conducting administrative investigations in the Federal workplace with an emphasis on employee misconduct\, including workplace harassment. Workplace Investigations Week always includes the most up-to-date information on the skills\, trends\, and cases\, including OPM’s regulations on investigative leave. \nMonday\, August 11: Administrative Investigations: The Substantive Basis \nWhy investigate? This kick-off day will answer that question\, as well as provide attendees with an understanding of discipline law\, charges of misconduct\, and penalty evidence. It will also cover witness rights and union representation. \nTuesday\, August 12: Harassment Investigations \nThis second day of Workplace Investigations Week focuses on harassment\, both EEO and non-EEO. We’ll review how to investigate allegations of harassment and discuss the latest in LGBTQ+ discrimination law. Other topics covered include sexual harassment claims\, liability in harassment cases\, what to charge in harassment cases\, and more. \nWednesday\, August 13: Conducting the Investigation\, Part I \nWe begin our two-day dive into functional investigative skills with a review of evidentiary principles\, followed by tips and guidelines for preparing for the investigation\, plus interviewing strategies and challenges. \nThursday\, August 14: Conducting the Investigation\, Part II \nThis day begins with a look at assessing witness credibility by considering plausibility\, demeanor\, omissions\, motive\, body language\, and more. We’ll also cover acquiring other evidence\, medical evidence\, and rules for being an effective witness. \nFriday\, August 15: Writing the Investigative Report \nFELTG closes out the week with an in-depth review of how to write an effective report of investigation. We’ll discuss organizing the report\, establishing the chronology\, as well as report writing style\, writing conventions\, and more. \nLearning objectives\n\nIdentify the characteristics of a legally sufficient investigation.\nDetermine potential charges\, and related evidence needed\, in misconduct investigations.\nDifferentiate between EEO and non-EEO harassment.\nDetermine witness credibility and learn how to handle difficult witnesses.\nIdentify all the relevant facts to include in the report of investigation.\n\nTraining time\n12:30 pm – 4:30 pm ET each day \nPricing\nEarly bird (register by July 11\, 2025) \n\n5 days = $1\,895\n4 days = $1\,575\n3 days = $1\,230\n2 days = $855\n1 day = $525\n\nStandard (register July 12 – August 15\, 2025) \n\n5 days = $1\,995\n4 days =$1\,675\n3 days = $1\,330\n2 days = $955\n1 day = $625\n\nEvent FAQs\nCan I attend this class using my government computer? \nThis event will be held on Zoom. Many government computers and systems allow Zoom access. Dial-in telephone access is also available. \nCan I earn CLE credits for this class?\nCLE applications are the responsibility of each attendee; FELTG does not apply for the credits on behalf of attendees. If you are seeking CLE credit\, you may use the materials provided by FELTG in submission to your state bar. You may also request a certificate of completion which will contain the number of training hours attended. \nCan I share my access link with co-workers?\nNo. Registration for this event is per individual\, and access links may not be shared. Each link may only be used by one person. \nCan I register a teleworker?\nThis event is individual registration\, so the cost is the same whether the person is teleworking or attending from an agency facility. \nHow do I receive a group discount?\nGroup discounts are available for agencies registering 10 or more individuals for the full event by the early bird registration deadline. The group discount must be requested in writing with registration submission via email or fax. \nWhat are the Substitute\, Cancellation\, and No-show Policies for Registered Participants?\nSubstitutions may be made at no cost with advance notice to FELTG. We kindly request 24-hour advance notice. No substitutions will be permitted within one hour of the training start time. No cancellations are accepted within 30 days of the training start date. No cancellations are accepted on pre-paid registrations.
