SUMMARY:Feds Gone AWOL: What to Do When Employees Don’t Show Up - February 6\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:You can’t discipline an employee for AWOL unless it has reached a certain number of days. Employees can’t be removed for AWOL. Plus\, we’ll discuss the emerging issue of charging AWOL when an employee is on telework. \nLearning objectives\n\nUnderstand the elements of the charges Absent Without Leave and Unauthorized Absence.\nDetermine reasonable penalties when AWOL is charged.\nIdentify situations where a perceived AWOL might be another type of absence.\n\nTraining time\n1:00 pm – 2:00 pm ET \nPricing\nEarly bird (register by January 6): $195.00 \nStandard (register January 7 – February 6): $250.00 \nEvent FAQs\nCan I attend this class using my government computer?\nThis event will be held on Zoom. If you are seeking CLE credit\, you may use the materials provided by FELTG in submission to your state bar. You may also request a certificate of completion which will contain the number of training hours attended. \nCan I share my access link with co-workers?\nNo. Registration for this event is per individual\, and access links may not be shared. Each link may only be used by one person. \nCan I register a teleworker?\nThis event is individual registration\, so the cost is the same whether the person is teleworking or attending from an agency facility. \nHow do I receive a group discount?\nGroup discounts are available for agencies registering 10 or more individuals for the full event by the early bird registration deadline. Many agencies have requested that full-day courses be taught over two half-days to ensure maximum engagement\, especially when the course is being taught virtually. Any course can be spread out over multiple days or condensed into shorter sessions. And shorter classes can often be combined to build longer courses covering more topics. We’ll be happy to discuss the options that are most convenient to you. \nIn what format is this class held? \nThe class may be held onsite at an agency location\, or as a live virtual event. Virtual events are generally held using your agency’s platform (Zoom\, WebEx\, Teams\, etc.). In certain situations where FELTG hosts\, the event will be held on Zoom or Teams. \nCan I earn CLE credits for this class?\nCLE applications are the responsibility of each attendee; FELTG does not apply for the credits on behalf of attendees. SUMMARY:Stay Up to Date: Hostile Work Environment Harassment in 2025 - February 19\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:A joke. A threat. A slap. A social media post. These could all possibly lead to viable claims of a hostile work environment harassment. But then again\, they may not. Claims of harassment and more specifically\, hostile work environment\, continue to soar in the Federal workplace\, along with confusion about what actions fit the legal definition. \nThe EEOC was so concerned\, it updated its harassment guidance for the first time since the previous century. This course examines the new guidance\, reviews recent case law\, clarifies legal developments\, and discusses emerging issues. This fast-paced\, yet comprehensive training offers an accurate snapshot of the types of harassment that are occurring (both online and onsite) and how to most effectively address them. \nLearning objectives\n\nIdentify key points addressed in the most recent EEOC enforcement guidance on workplace harassment.\nRecognize harassment and determine if it’s EEO-related or not.\nExplain the requirements of “unwelcome” and “sufficiently severe or pervasive” conduct.\n\nTraining time\n1:00 pm – 3:00 pm ET \nPricing\nEarly bird (register by January 20\, 2025): $375 \nStandard (register January 21 – February 19\, 2025): $425 \nEvent FAQs\nCan I attend this class using my government computer?\nThis event will be held on Zoom. SUMMARY:Telework as a Reasonable Accommodation in 2025: Handling Return to In-Person Work Exemption Requests - February 25\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:President Trump’s inauguration day Memorandum to agencies was clear: Agency leaders must “require employees to return to work in-person.” In a follow-up memo\, the Office of Personnel Management noted that agency supervisors could excuse employees “due to a disability\, qualifying medical condition\, or other compelling reasons.” \nTelework is already the most commonly requested reasonable accommodation\, and you can expect an increase in those requests as you wrap up your return-to-work plan. What are the exemptions to the in-person requirement? How do you determine if telework is an appropriate reasonable accommodation? What if there is another accommodation that would also be effective? This training will answer all of those questions and more. \nLearning objectives \n\nIdentify the lawful exemptions to the return-to-work order.\nDetermine if telework is an effective reasonable accommodation.\nRecognize when an agency can legally deny telework as an accommodation.\n\nTraining time\n1:00 pm – 2:00 pm ET \nPricing\nStandard (register January 28 – February 25\, 2025): $250.00 \nEvent FAQs\nCan I attend this class using my government computer?\nThis event will be held on Zoom.
