DESCRIPTION:Whether you work for a Federal agency subject to President Trump’s inauguration day Return to In-Person Work Memorandum\, or you work for a state or local government or private sector company who has ordered employees back to work onsite\, one thing is sure: you have received a number of exemption requests from individuals who are requesting telework or remote work as a reasonable accommodation for a medical condition. Plus\, with the July 16\, 2025\, OPM memo on the parameters for providing telework and remote work as a religious accommodation\, it’s a topic on a lot of people’s minds. \nSo\, what are the lawful exemptions to the in-person work requirement? How do you determine if telework or remote work is an appropriate reasonable accommodation?
