SUMMARY:Everything You Need to Know About Probationary Periods - January 14\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:On the surface\, probationary periods seem rather simple\, but with the addition of Executive Order 14284: Strengthening Probationary Periods in the Federal Service (April 24\, 2025)\, new regulations and OPM guidance\, and ongoing litigation\, there are novel processes your agency must follow. Plus\, probationary appeal rights have been limited even further by Civil Service Rule XI. \nUnder the new requirements the termination of a probationer is automatic unless the agency certifies\, in writing\, that finalizing the individual’s appointment advances the public interest. What does that certification look like? Must you notify employees in advance of their probationary period coming to an end? Can you discipline or PIP someone during their probationary period? Can probationers ever have MSPB appeal rights – and if so\, under what circumstances? \nThis course will answer all your questions about probationary periods\, and with all the recent changes it’s one you can’t afford to miss. \nLearning objectives\n\nIdentify the similarities and differences between probationary periods and trial periods.\nUnderstand how the supervisory probationary period is different from the initial appointment probationary period.\nDetermine when it is appropriate to separate a probationer\, and what process is required.\n\nTraining date\nJanuary 14\, 2026 \nTraining time\n1:00 pm – 2:30 pm ET \nPricing\nEarly bird (register by December 15\, 2025) \n\n$325\n\nStandard (register December 16\, 2025 – January 14\, 2026) \n\n$350\n\nEvent FAQs \nCan I attend this class using my government computer? \nThis event will be held on Zoom. Many government computers and systems allow Zoom access. If\, for some reason\, your firewall will not allow access\, you are welcome to use your personal email address to register and to attend the sessions from your personal device. Dial-in telephone access is also available. \nCan I earn CLE credits for this class?\nCLE applications are the responsibility of each attendee; FELTG does not apply for the credits on behalf of attendees. If you are seeking CLE credit\, you may use the materials provided by FELTG in submission to your state bar. You may also request a certificate of completion\, which will contain the number of training hours attended. \nCan I share my access link with co-workers?\nNo. Registration for this event is per individual\, and access links may not be shared. Each link may only be used by one person. \nCan I register a teleworker?\nThis event is individual registration\, so the cost is the same whether the person is teleworking or attending from an agency facility. \nHow do I receive a group discount?\nGroup discounts are available for agencies registering 10 or more individuals by the early bird registration deadline. The group discount must be requested in writing with registration submission via email or fax. \nWhat are the Substitute\, Cancellation\, and No-show Policies for Registered Participants?\nSubstitutions may be made at no cost with advance notice to FELTG. We kindly request a 24-hour advance notice. No substitutions will be permitted within one hour of the training start time. No cancellations are accepted within 30 days of the training start date. No cancellations are accepted on prepaid registrations. There are no refunds for no-shows.

SUMMARY:Get it Right the First Time: Accepting\, Dismissing\, and Framing EEO Claims - January 27-28\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:A surprisingly large number of agency dismissals are overturned by the EEOC each year – and a remand years after the events in question can equal big problems when it comes to the investigation. This class covers all you need to know on when to accept\, when to dismiss\, and how to frame EEO claims. \nTuesday\, January 27: Accepting\, Dismissing\, and Framing EEO Claims\, Part I\nSometimes your agency has a responsibility to dismiss an EEO complaint. However\, you do so at your own risk. In the first of this two-day class\, we tackle the basis for dismissing claims\, review the legally protected categories and how to spot and frame disparate impact\, hostile work environment\, and reasonable accommodation claims. \nWednesday\, January 28: Accepting\, Dismissing\, and Framing EEO Claims\, Part II\nThe second day of this class focuses on reprisal\, timeliness principles\, and much more. And before the training concludes\, you’ll participate in an exercise to refresh what you’ve learned on the topic. \nLearning objectives\n\nIdentify claims that do not fall under the EEO process\, and explain why.\nAnalyze contractor EEO complaints to determine whether they should be accepted or dismissed.\nDraft legally sufficient acceptance and dismissal documents.\n\nTraining time\n1:00 pm – 4:30 pm ET each day \nPricing\nEarly bird (register by December 26\, 2025) \n\n2 days = $995\n1 day = $550\n\nStandard (register December 27 or later) \n\n2 days = $1\,095\n1 day = $650\n\nEvent FAQs \nCan I attend this class using my government computer? \nThis event will be held on Zoom.
