Advanced EEO: Navigating Complex Issues
When EEO challenges arise, they rarely show up as run-of-the-mill simple scenarios you’ve worked through in a training class. Are you an EEO professional, attorney or advisor eager to learn how to more effectively manage the unexpected EEO issues? This in-depth, highly interactive training will give you the necessary tools and practical guidance to manage those challenging situations.
Tuesday, July 15: Advanced Reasonable Accommodation Issues
The accommodation process is a fluid one. In this session, we’ll look at the whole of that process – from knowing when someone is making a reasonable accommodation request to taking action if accommodations are ineffective. With interactive scenarios, you’ll work through challenging accommodation situations.
Learning objectives
- Check in with employees after granting an accommodation.
- Recognize reasonable accommodation requests.
- Differentiate between religious and disability accommodation processes.
Wednesday, July 16: Advanced Hostile Work Environment, Sex Discrimination, and Reprisal Issues
Sadly, the topics covered in the session are very much alive in the Federal workplace. Participants will learn about gender identity and sexual orientation after Bostock, recognizing microaggressions and other harassment related to gender identity, per se retaliation, and much more.
Learning objectives
- Identify the agency and supervisor’s responsibilities when harassment occurs.
- Recognize when a microaggression shows a discriminatory motive.
- Explain what to do when you see per se reprisal.
Thursday, July 17: Advanced Settlement and Summary Judgment
Settlement is often the most efficient and effective way to handle a dispute and allow you to get back to focusing on your agency’s mission. This session will tackle the finite details that make up a successful settlement, such as drafting plain language agreements. The class will also tackle preparing and organizing for summary judgment, motion procedures and standards, writing the motion, editing the motion, and much more.
