In 2001, FELTG was a fledgling training company with a business plan “written on a cocktail napkin,” according to Bill Wiley, one of the founders. The company launched with one course—the precursor to UnCivil Servant, which is still FELTG’s most popular class nearly 25 years later. But it’s no longer the only class.

FELTG has become the most respected and highly sought-after source for Federal employment law training, with a catalog of over 100 courses. FELTG has expanded its curriculum beyond traditional Federal employment law topics to include training on workplace challenges such as conducting investigations, managing telework, communication, behavioral health issues, leadership, mentorship, teambuilding, and more.

Deborah J. Hopkins joined FELTG in 2011 as Assistant Executive Director with a dream and a goal to run the company when the existing owners were ready to retire. Her early mission included establishing web-based virtual training, broadening the catalog of classes, and diversifying instructor expertise as FELTG expanded its training around the globe. In 2015, she became Executive Director and, in 2019, took on the role of FELTG President and Owner.

FELTG is an SBA-Certified, Woman-Owned Small Business. In addition, many of FELTG’s training courses are pre-approved for continuing legal education credits in Virginia and are pre-approved for HRCI recertification credits.
