Who doesn’t love a redemption story? A real-life inspirational tale of an individual turning their life around gives us hope in our fellow humans. We like to believe in the best of people. It’s why we’re so willing to give people “one more chance.”
Until they let us down a second time.
In the world of Federal employment law, one of the most popular alternatives to discipline gives the employee a chance to create a redemption story of their own: the last chance agreement (LCA). When utilized properly an LCA not only gives the employee a chance to do better but also saves the agency time and resources – and all but eliminates the risk of future litigation.
This one-hour class will explain all you need to know about LCAs including when to make the offer, what considerations should go into the provisions, and what happens if the employee violates the agreement.
