Preparing for Change
Whether it excites you, fills you with a sense of dread, or leaves you somewhere in the middle, change is on the horizon. Federal employees are no strangers to the ups and downs that come with each new administration. Ever since the Civil Service Commission was established in 1883, your agencies have been successfully navigating this process every four or eight years.
At FELTG, we are prepared, as we always are, to adapt our approach in the coming months to the priorities of your agency under the new administration. The information we present is always current to the very latest laws, regulations, cases, Executive Orders and guidance, and we thank you for trusting us with your Federal employment law and related training needs.
Speaking of future events, our 2025 calendar is starting to fill up (registration is open now!), and here are just a few events we are excited about:
- Misconduct Investigations Get Them Right from the Start, Jan. 22
- Calling All Counselors: Initial 32-Hour Plus Refresher EEO Training, Jan. 27-30
- Say Whaaat? Respectful Communication in the Workplace, Feb. 5
- Feds Gone AWOL: What to Do When Employees Don’t Show Up, Feb. 6
- UnCivil Servant: Holding Employees Accountable for Performance and Conduct, Feb. 12-13
In this month’s newsletter, we look at the legal clash between religious and LGBTQ+ rights, why advisors should say “yes” instead of “no,” how last chance agreements are one of the best discipline alternatives an agency can use, and what happens when an employee who is injured at work seeks a remedy in multiple forums.
Take care,
Deborah J. Hopkins, FELTG President
